Recently, I started to make videos as a way to improve my confidence in front of the camera, especially the talking parts. I also found making videos a more efficient way of showing the audience what happened.
July 4th 2019, I traveled to San Francisco from Irvine. The entire trip was a blast with awesome food, gorgeous views, friendly locals, and more. The essence is in this vlog video and I hope you can enjoy it. 😀
Which place do you want to travel to the most if you get a week off!? Let me know your thoughts and maybe I will make it my next destination :D.

Car Photoshoot Tips: How & Where We Nailed These
I couldn’t find the sports car of my dreams, so I built it myself.
Mr. Ferdinand Porsche
At the beginning of me carefully stepping into the modeling and photography world, I wondered – what, where, and how do I want to be shoot with. With all the photographers I felt grateful for, we went to the beaches, the high-rise balconies, the pop-up exhibitions, arcades, train stations, and basically all over the place.

It is till my photographer friend asked, “why don’t you get a photo with your car? You got a nice car here.” And of course I did. An amazingly new world just opened its door in front of me.
To be honest I didn’t pay much of attention to my car since I purchased it in October 2018.

It was my daily driven so I tried to take care of it as much as I can. Porsche 718 Cayman debuted in 2017 as a new series after the original 987 cayman and boxter (the difference here is boxter is convertible and cayman is not). My beautiful beast came with the graphite blue metallic color (don’t give me wrong, I wondered whether it was blue or grey at first.) But yet at one point in 2018 I realized– this color is awesome but too humble for me.
Since my first photoshoot, I have been getting more confidence in myself as well as accepting who I am. With all the support I get from families, colleagues, friends, and my online audience, I know that I’m going to make some changes to my car to make it a better match to who Yunni is.

So here we are: let’s get some locations going in cases you need to shoot with a car, a person, or both! I will include 3 locations that me and photographers personally tested out and some locations other people recommended in the SoCal area.

LOCATION 1: DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES
Address: 687 W General Thaddeus Kosciuszko Way
Recommend Level: 💙💙💙💙
Recommended time of day: 12-4PM
This is definitely one hidden treasure surrounded by the high-rises in downtown LA. Recommended by @elvisyuphotography a shaded basement area of a bridge as long as being next to the back alley of the Broad, this place creates the perfect ambient and moody lighting for a cold-toned photoshoot.

Except the occasional traffic passing by (and some pedestrians trying to take behind the scene photos! 🤣), it was a smooth shoot with a gorgeously clean background. It is recommended that you bring some sorts of light sources because of the lack of direct light.

LOCATION 2: JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT
Address: 3199E Airport Loop Dr, Costa Mesa
Recommend Level: 💙💙💙💙
Recommended time of day: 5-7:30 PM
Another amazing spot recommended by @tomdewh, was perfect for catching the plane flying by scene with my car. Plane and car– can it get any sexier than this?

Two things to pay attention to:
- Apparently, we have no control of when the flights take off so good luck with the flights! It could be a smart choice to check the take-off flights to sort of get a sense of how long to wait for. Otherwise, all you can do is chill and get ready when the next plane comes. Good thing is that you can see the flight coming your way from faraway, which gives you plenty of time to get ready into the posing.
- This area is outside with no shade AT ALL so please come when there is no heavy, direct sunlight. That way all you see is the shadow cast by model/car. It is best to visit this spot near sunset time (around 7-7:30 PM) for the best results.

And never forget – be creative, create relationships with your object (in my case my baby car), try really hard to let the audience know that you actually care about the other thing in the image. I actually tried super hard to make it look less like I borrowed this car 😂.

LOCATION 3: TUSTIN METRO PARKING
Address: 2975 Edinger Ave, Tustin
Recommend Level: 💙💙💙💙💙
Recommended time of day: 7-7:30 PM
I don’t know if words are enough to express my love for this spot. If you are a car enthusiast, please please please check out this spot for the best sunset background and the cleanest environment for a rooftop photoshoot.

It might look good as well in the morning, but 7 PM definitely sets the soft lighting and the dreamy mood. I am looking forward shooting here with photographers for portraits as it is scheduled :D.

LOCATION 4: PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY
Address: Newport Beach, CA
Recommend Level: 💙💙💙
Recommended time of day: 5-7:30 PM
On Pacific Coast Highway near Newport Beach, me and my photographer friend Steven @Steven_suarez_photo_video decided to do a rolling shoot. As we drove along and chilling in the sunset breeze, we pulled into a parking lot facing the ocean and he did this short little drone clip for my car.
It was surprisingly beautiful when the natural light almost faded away, but just the right amount to have us enjoy the landscape behind. Plus the blue of my color somehow matches with the ocean view. Unfortunately, I do not have the exact address for this location, but if you just cruise down PCH and I believe anywhere like a parking lot or an empty space near the ocean will make the whole picture beautifully calming and peaceful.
ON THE LAST NOTE
Photoshoots can happen anywhere, anytime, and with all kinds of gears. You don’t have to be professional or precise in timing/skills, all we need is a heart longing for creativity in a life that can easily get filled with repetition and boredom.
Out of the four locations I listed, which one do you want to try out the most? If you don’t like any of them, let me know too so I can explore newer, better locations just for you!! ❤️

It all starts when the M-F slash 9 to 6 schedule starts to eat up my energy and left me feeling empty and exhausted even during the weekends.
It was a loud and clear signal for me: time to take a break from whatever is in my mailbox or in front of my desk.

Of course I reached out to my girlfriend telling her this idea of a short trip to nearby cities as we both live in LA. And with no hesitation we agreed upon Santa Barbara – short distance, easy drive, and a much quieter town comparing to other ocean cities along PCH.
H A P P Y T U M M Y
And of course, girls, the first stop we went to was McConnell’s Fine Ice-cream in downtown Santa Barbara. The line wasn’t too crazy but the amount of options was crazy – I saw at least 20 options on the menu and definitely lost my mind trying to decide.

The time finally came – we decided to get two singles with half & half so that we can try 4 flavors at the same time (we really thought that we were smart about this).
The flavor was absolutely stunning! We got:
- Sea Salt Cookies & Cream (MUST TRY)
- Pistachio
- Strawberry
- Chocolate

In two hours, not surprisingly, we landed ourselves at another foodie spot: Santa Barbara Shell Fish Company.
Located at the end of the Stearns Wharf, this is definitely the go-to place for fresh seafood along with the best ocean views.

Fresh lobster roll that hit my taste buds as hard as they can – the natural sweetness of seafood really refreshed me from the 2.5 hours drive. Along with the frequent sea breeze and the occasional laughter from the next table – it really freed me from my everyday city life.
Not to mention a whole fresh rock crab for $20+ only! It was a deal that I would never find in Boiling Crab/Kicking Crab… Also the fresh uni for uni lovers, I was fascinated with the combinations of fresh scallop at the bottom, uni at the top. And never ever forget about clam chowder. We were full to the max — happily.

When I and my girlfriend were planning for the trip at home, we debated on whether to stay at the hotel versus Airbnb. I was glad that we chose Airbnb – a local experience that I would’ve sadly missed.
A hidden residence area 10 minutes away from downtown Santa Barbara, our little cottage was a hidden treasure that brought us steps away from nature.
And, what’s new? Yunni has to take a photo everywhere she goes. Presenting the new bucket hat I recently got from Ikea, bringing practical elements into fashion life. If you ever visit IKEA, don’t question yourself and go ask the staff, they will direct you to the right aisle.

3 PM.
The only sound we heard was the wind, our breath, and the bird & bug friends outside singing along. No email, no phone call, no text message. A sip of sparkling water. The flowers outside are sending us messages that we will never decode.

V I T A M I N S E A

The pier was pretty crowded with travelers like us. Puppies were jumping around, kids running carelessly, and sweet couples kissing each other at the end of the deck.
A cute turquoise bike suddenly caught our eyes – what a perfect match for this scene, can’t help but photo record this moment. In 10 minutes her owner showed up – a cute teenager girl with her backpack. We expressed our liking for the bike and went on. She smiled.

One funny fact: we were both wearing Brandy Melville outfits that we just purchased in Santa Barbara haha. Guess we were not fully prepared for our trip, but spontaneity sometimes sparks enjoyable surprises too.
M O X I M U S E U M

One special thing about Santa Barbara was how everything was not simply about having fun and relaxation, but also somewhere you can find education, innovation, exploration through the five senses. And that’s where the MOXI museum is.
The museum was built for kids, but not just for kids. This place is full of interactive technologies that teach us about music, physics, universe, nature, and more. Many art pieces or technological equipment are actually built by middle school children.

This is what makes our future generation better. And it is the experiences that made us who we are.

Ready to take a surrey ride with us to the beach? Let’s go!
If you are ever in town, surrey ride is a good way of exercising as well as enjoying 2 miles of beach view without getting too tired. You can easily find local rental shops that offer $20+ for 2 hours of surrey rental, which should be plenty since they have limits on where you could ride to.
Who else loves the sun more than we do? I guess it would be sunflower (or maybe you too!).
I randomly saw these sunflowers when we went to Wholefoods and thought it would be a perfect prop for our beach photos, and it absolutely worked!
And when will we ever give up on the opportunities to indulge ourselves in the world of seafood? The answer is never!
Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach is the perfect location on Hendry’s beach for seafood and brunch. Crab cake benedict was so rich in tastes, shrimp cocktail for tomato lovers, and seafood pasta that played a perfect finale for our short journey.

Thank you my friends – I am so grateful that you read this far.
Stay tuned for my next journey, it shouldn’t be too long away from now. 💗
